Kanpur: Police on Wednesday took medicine trader Vineet Minocha’s daughter-in-law Shalu and two other accused, contract killers Vishal and Rajkishore, into 24-hour custody for questioning in his murder case.
Police Question Key Suspects in Ongoing Investigation
On September 16, authorities brought Shalu, Vishal, and Rajkishore to Kalyanpur police station for questioning, which lasted approximately 30 minutes. Shalu, who concealed her face with a dupatta, arrived in a private vehicle, while Vishal and Rajkishore were transported in a police jeep. Investigators subsequently took Shalu to Z Square Mall, alleging that she accompanied Vishal for shopping. As part of their investigation, police also planned to conduct identification proceedings at a key shop located at Parade Chauraha to verify the suspects’ movements and any purchases related to the alleged conspiracy.
On September 16, police requested a 24-hour custody extension for Shalu and Vishal, but the hearing was postponed due to a strike. On September 19, defense attorney Shivakant Dixit submitted a request to have Shalu’s statement formally recorded in writing, but no decision on remand was made at that time.
Minocha lived with his family in flat C-104 at Ratan Orbit Apartment. He and Subrat ran Pharma Traders, a medicine firm on Birhana Road. His family includes wife Puneeta, Subrat, Shalu and a five-year-old grandson.
