Patrick Mahomes opens up about Travis Kelce’s record breaking performance
In the Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos, Travis Kelce passed Jason Witten for second all-time in career receiving yards 13,046 yards.
In an interview with ESPN, Travis Kelce said, “It’s not as much about the shape that I look like I’m in…It’s about the grit that I have and the heart that I have to get that ball north. Previously, the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid had spoken about Travis Kelce’s weight gain accusations as he said, “I know everybody questioned the wedding and all that. The Super Bowl champion reflected on it as he said, “I had no idea…It’s pretty freaking cool, man, to be in talks with guys like Marshall Faulk, Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens. The Kansas City Chiefs’ popular quarterback Patrick Mahomes also reflected on Travis Kelce’s performance as he said, “He’s still doing it and he knows how to get open,…He can make guys miss. “ He added, “Just as much as it’s cleaned up the game for me, I think having [running back] Kenneth [Walker III] and the way he’s running the ball gets [Kelce] into these matchups that he’s going to win — and he showed that.
Would he be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time? But he works his rear end off. That’s some pretty cool stuff, man. Those are the guys I grew up watching. Guys like that fueled my love for this game. For him to make the plays he made in the big moments of the game, that’s who he’s always been. But the Kansas City Chiefs’ star player seems determined this season as he eyes a Super Bowl for his seemingly last time on the field.
