Kelce currently has 1,080 receptions, placing him eighth on the NFL’s all-time list. Another 23 catches would move him past three Hall of Fame receivers and into fifth place. Together, they have reached five Super Bowls and won three, helping turn the Chiefs into one of the league’s defining teams of the era.
“Oh, my goodness,” Reid said. It was clearly said with humor, but Reid later explained that he still sees plenty of football left in Kelce. “Yeah, so I’ve still got a few years on this contract,” said Reid. “Travis, he came back in phenomenal shape,” Reid said. “So I know people have said it’s his last year and all this, but he has looked great.
Their partnership has produced far more than longevity. There is also a major career milestone within reach. “How about if I just stay in the middle? How about if we both go out together? How’s that?
Kelce is nearing 37, while Reid is 68, yet neither appears ready to put a firm end date on his career. Reid arrived in Kansas City in 2013 after 14 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce joined the team that same year after Kansas City selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
