Hyderabad: One Abdul Bari, who was convicted for his role in the 2018 honour killing of Perumalla Pranay Kumar in Miryalaguda of Nalgonda district, died due to cardiac arrest in Cherlapally jail on Thursday.

Cherlapally prison authorities said that after the 53-year-old complained of chest pain, he was rushed to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors made a vain attempt to revive him and declared him dead. Bari was convicted for his role in Pranay’s case in 2025 along with six others.
“He was diagnosed with a heart problem long ago and was taken to hospital for treatment on multiple occasions,” senior prison officials told TOI . Bari was awarded life imprisonment. He is accused of facilitating Pranay’s father-in-law Maruthi Rao in engaging a hired assailant Subhash Sharma to kill Pranay.
