MVA members said Fadnavis’s visit was planned such that he only met BJP supporters. As an MLA, I can meet him elsewhere, but the affected farmers can’t. His visit was crucial for them. The police did not allow that to happen. Patil claimed there was heavy police deployment to control farmers’ movement. “They are in extreme distress, but were treated like criminals. Their entry was blocked by ropes by the police while the chief minister met his party’s supporters,” Patil added. The farmers are eagerly waiting for govt to disburse aid. Govt must act fast.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA from Dharashiv district Kailas Patil told TOI , “I waited with some farmers to submit a memorandum to the chief minister on Wednesday, but we were prevented from meeting him.
Pune: A day after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis ’s visit to rain-deficit Latur, Dharashiv and Solapur, the opposition called it a farce and said he did not meet any elected representatives from the MVA and the farmers accompanying them. BJP MLA from Dharashiv district Ranajagjitsinha Patil said, “The chief minister visited the affected district to understand the severity of the drought-like situation and to support farmers in distress. However, the opposition preferred politicising the issue rather than helping the farming community.”
