In the first case, registered by Palarivattom police, a complainant alleged that Rs 4.96 lakh was collected from him in instalments between July 10, 2023, and Feb 5, 2025, after he was promised a warehouse job in Poland. The case was registered under Sections 316(2), 318(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 24 of the Immigration Act. In the second case, also registered by Palarivattom police, a woman alleged that Rs 4 lakh was collected after her husband was promised a job in Armenia with a monthly salary of Rs 1.5 lakh.
The arrest follows two separate cases registered against her over allegations involving the immigration services firm, according to police. The arrested woman has been identified as Parvathy Maya Shaji, CEO of Amster Overseas Pvt Ltd, an Edappally-based firm. The FIR further alleges that the firm was operating without a protector of emigrants licence. She alleged that the promised job was never provided and that the money was not returned. She also alleged that she was threatened with humiliation on social media when she sought repayment.
Kochi : A young businesswoman who is the founder-CEO of an immigration services company was arrested on Thursday after being detained at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in connection with an alleged job fraud case. Following the arrest, she was produced before the court on Thursday evening.
