Gandhinagar : Ahead of VGGS 2027, the state govt has asked all departments to undertake a district- and taluka-wise assessment of investment proposals and identify bottlenecks that could delay projects, with specific focus on land, utilities, approvals and infrastructure requirements.
Chief secretary M K Das, in a communication to top officials on Thursday, said departments must submit the status report within 15 days. The CS said in the communication that Gujarat’s economy has expanded nearly 20-fold in rupee terms over the past two decades, adding, “Our focus must be on attracting higher value investments, promoting innovation and productivity, strengthening competitiveness and generating large-scale investment.
The exercise, the communication said, is intended to realign strategies to sustain Gujarat’s competitiveness, investment momentum and employment generation. “While our global outreach continues to attract strong investor interest, it is equally important that investors experience the same responsiveness and institutional facilitation,” the CS said in the letter. The directive comes as the state seeks to strengthen its investment facilitation mechanism amid changing global economic and geopolitical conditions, evolving supply chains and heightened competition for investments. Departments have been asked to provide details of the investment proposals and formal expressions of interest received, proposals that have secured final approvals and statutory clearances, and key bottlenecks involving land, water supply, electricity connections and other infrastructure. They have also been asked to specify reasons for pendency, and the action required to resolve each issue. The directive also calls for time-bound resolution of issues related to approvals, land, utilities and other operational requirements.
