Recently, artist Priyesh Trivedi’s clever portrayal of ‘the perfect child’ was showcased at London Fashion Week through the debut of brands Lovebirds and designers Gursi Singh and Amrita Khanna’s collection ‘India: IYKYK,’ which stands for “If You Know, You Know”. Do you recall the impeccably polite and sweet ‘Adarsh Balak’ from the school charts that adorned every Indian classroom? Well, guess what, he is all grown up now and has made it to London Fashion Week. The familiar face has resurfaced, but this time in a very different and fashionable world as he shared space with Lovebirds, leaving schoolroom innocence behind and stepping into the world of fashion. From a childhood nostalgic image to a modern London fashion moment, the transition is a surprising pop-culture crossover that makes one think about it twice that how a same-person vision with an utterly different aesthetic can make a difference. Those who were brought up in India during the 1970s, 1980s, or 1990s know exactly who this child is! And in these designs, we can see the iconic ‘Adarsh Balak.
