The 1.3km flyover connecting Dindoshi court to Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, commonly known as Film City, is on track to be opened for traffic by October 15. This structure is a component of the larger 12.2km Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project. In response to the impending deadline, officials are accelerating the completion of the remaining construction work.
All 31 piers and 30 spans have been constructed. The test is part of the work planned before the proposed October 15 opening. Officials have been asked to complete the 7.5m-wide slip roads alongside the flyover.
The BMC said the structure would be opened for traffic after the necessary technical procedures are completed. The main civil work on the flyover has been completed. Installation of girders, casting of the deck slab and construction of approach roads on both sides have also been completed as part of the project work. A load test is scheduled for the second week of October to assess the flyover’s safety and carrying capacity. These include finishing work, road markings, signage, electrical poles and installation of noise barriers. Officials have been directed to expedite these remaining works to meet the expected traffic opening timeline. During the inspection, he directed officials to speed up the remaining works. The work is among the remaining tasks identified during the inspection. Officials have been directed to remove barricades below the flyover and ensure that the roads are fully opened for traffic. They were also asked to clear debris and solid waste from the site, as part of the instructions issued during the inspection of the flyover.
Several works remain to be completed before the flyover can open. The inspection covered the ongoing finishing activities and other requirements that need to be completed before the flyover is opened. Along with finishing, road markings, signage, electrical poles and noise barriers, these works are to be completed before the flyover opens for traffic.
