The Kansas City Chiefs recorded a pretty brutal run on the field in the last season as the team ended up missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Ahead of the Week 3 match against the Miami Dolphins, Patrick Mahomes opened up about the team. In the last few hours, as Patrick Mahomes spoke to reporters about how the Kansas City Chiefs are strategizing in the new season, he said, “You could even see the differences between Weeks 1 and 2…The Colts saw how committed we were to the run game and how well it worked.
Patrick Mahomes weighed in on Eric Bieniemy’s return to the team as he said, “It’s got to be a great balance that we have to have of being able to run it, run it, run it, then play-action at the right time…I thought Coach Bieniemy and Coach Reid did a great job of calling the perfect play action, the perfect movement plays at the perfect time, so that I had guys open for me to throw. To make things worse, Patrick Mahomes also sustained severe injuries in the last season which made things only more complicated for the team. Back in January, Eric Bieniemy returned as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator to help the team’s offense. In the last few months, the three time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes experienced a few challenging months as he focused and dedicated all his time to rehabilitation and training extensively for the new season.
