Mangaluru : Bantwal Rural police arrested three men in connection with a violent assault on a 41-year-old man at Kammaje in Thenkabellur village. Prashanth Belchad, a resident of Thenkabellur, the incident occurred on the evening of Sept 20, according to a complaint filed by the victim. Police identified the accused as Prashanth, 38, from Ammunje; Ramdas, 43, from Thenkabellur; and Shankar , 45, from Badagabellur in Bantwal. Based on his complaint, Bantwal Rural police registered a case under sections 109, 352 and 351 read with 3(5) of the BNS.
Belchad was at Kammaje when the accused, who were known to him, arrived in an autorickshaw and attacked him. They allegedly assaulted Belchad with a machete and iron rods, causing severe bleeding injuries. The attackers fled after seeing the victim’s acquaintances approaching. Police shifted Belchad to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. Following the investigation, police arrested Prashanth, Ramdas and Shankar.
They were produced before the court Friday, which remanded them to three days of police custody for further interrogation.
