Kanpur: A 40-year-old man was discovered deceased on the roof of his residence in Ishwariganj, located under the jurisdiction of the Bithoor police station, on Friday morning. The police reported that his death occurred hours after he had an altercation with his wife.

The deceased, Neeraj Gautam, was found lying dead by his wife, Sushila, who informed other family members, according to police. Police said further action would be taken based on the postmortem report and evidence that emerges during the investigation. Bithoor police reached the spot along with a forensic team after receiving information and collected evidence. The body was sent for postmortem examination. Download the TOI App.
Station house officer Ashok Kumar Saroj said preliminary questioning revealed that the couple had quarrelled late at night, after which Neeraj went to the terrace.
However, SHO Saroj said no complaint had been received regarding the allegation. Neeraj’s father, Bhaiyalal, alleged that his son had been under pressure from his wife’s family members. Neeraj and his wife worked as labourers at a construction site at Rama Medical College. The couple has a son and two daughters.
