Kanpur: A 35-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly killing his 84-year-old father with a brick and an axe following a dispute over money in Para Ojhi village under Hamirpur’s Sadar Kotwali area. He then left the victim on a cot and went to sleep. Police sent the body for postmortem examination and registered an FIR based on a complaint by the family.
The accused, Ramzan Ali, allegedly attacked his father, Nawab Ali, causing serious injuries to his head and face on Wednesday night, according to police.
Family Financial Strain Preceding Incident
Ramzan had been experiencing health issues and had requested financial assistance from his father for medical treatment and other expenses. He also sought a loan from his elder brother, Shamshuddin, 38, which led to ongoing tension within the family regarding money matters.
In response to the incident, Circle Officer (Sadar) Yashpal Singh and ASP Arvind Kumar Verma conducted an inspection of the crime scene and interviewed family members. A field unit was deployed to collect evidence, while a dog squad searched the surrounding area for additional information.
