Ahmedabad : Police have informally advised cab drivers not to force passengers to switch to Bharat Taxi amid an ongoing tussle between drivers associated with different ride-hailing platforms.

Sources said police have urged cabbies to ensure passengers are not inconvenienced. A large number of drivers have shifted from Uber and Rapido to Bharat Taxi, affecting the availability of cabs on the other platforms, according to sources. Rasika Raval, a resident of Anandnagar, said she struggled for hours to find a cab or autorickshaw for a trip to Iskcon. Similarly, Makarba resident Tanushree Solanki said she was unable to find a driver willing to accept her booking when she needed to drop her husband at the airport. Police sources said they are monitoring the situation and have advised drivers to avoid actions that cause inconvenience to passengers.
Drivers cannot compel commuters to book rides through a particular platform or ask them to travel outside an app-based system, the sources added. Download the TOI App.
