Ahmedabad : Two separate cyberfraud cases in the city left victims poorer by Rs 20.6 lakh, with fraudsters allegedly using a fake work-from-home opportunity and a bogus gas disconnection notice to gain their trust and access their finances. He allegedly offered commissions of up to 30% for using her credit cards for purchasing electronic goods.
In the first case, a 23-year-old woman and her parents were allegedly cheated of Rs 12.3 lakh by two men who lured them with promises of high returns through a “work-from-home“ scheme. The woman had uploaded her resume on a job portal when she received a call from a man claiming to represent a cooperative society, according to the complaint.
