Mangaluru: City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy warned those seeking overseas employment to beware of fraudulent agents promising foreign jobs and visas.
“There are around 25 to 30 registered recruiting agents.
People should approach only agencies registered with the MEA and verify their credentials before paying any money,” he said. The commissioner said that people often approach police only after losing money. Hence, job seekers should exercise caution and verify the credentials of recruiting agencies before entering into any agreement or making payments,” he said.
He strongly advised overseas job seekers to solely consult recruiting agents registered with the ministry of external affairs (MEA). “This delay leads to difficulties in recovering the amount, even after registering a case and arresting the accused. Warning against scams in a social media video posted on Friday, he stated that fraud agents are cheating people aspiring to work abroad.
