Laxmi Stone Crusher at Tarihal village in Belagavi taluk had an outstanding electricity bill of Rs 77,360 for nearly three months, according to Hescom officials. Belagavi : Legislative council member Channaraj Hattiholi has been accused of assaulting two Hescom officials after power supply to a stone crusher unit was disconnected over unpaid electricity dues. Hattiholi has denied the allegations. The incident allegedly took place at Hattiholi’s residence in Kuvempunagar, Belagavi, Friday morning. The officials were Hescom assistant executive engineer Deepak D and section officer Raju Chavan. The unit is reportedly owned by Pramod Jadhav, a close associate of Hattiholi. A large number of Hescom employees later gathered at the APMC police station and demanded strict action. They also sought protection for officials carrying out their duties and enforcing electricity regulations. No FIR had been registered in connection with the incident as of friday evening.
