Rhodes said he had been placed in several “unwinnable positions” throughout his career. The show featured a United States Championship Steel Cage Match, multiple Money in the Bank qualifying matches, and several major developments involving the WWE title picture. Trick Williams defended his title against Baron Corbin in a brutal cage fight, while Charlotte Flair and Giulia battled Lash Legend for a spot in the women’s ladder match. Trick Williams retained the United States Championship after defeating Baron Corbin in a hard-fought Steel Cage Match. Corbin controlled much of the early action. He repeatedly drove Williams into the cage wall and even hit a superplex from the top of the cage. Williams survived the punishment and later hit Corbin with a Trick Shot. Corbin shocked everyone by kicking out of the move. Williams then fought back with three consecutive Book Ends. The third one finally kept Corbin down for the three-count. Lash Legend earned her place in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match by defeating Charlotte Flair and Giulia. The three women delivered a fast-paced Triple Threat Match. Flair and Giulia both came close to winning before Legend took advantage of the final exchange. She now joins Lola Vice, Sol Ruca, Roxanne Perez and Jacy Jayne in the ladder match. Fatal Influence picked up a victory over WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green, Paige and Tiffany Stratton. The match became chaotic in the closing stages. Nikki Bella appeared at ringside and tripped Paige while the referee was distracted. Jacy Jayne then took advantage and hit Paige with the Rolling Encore. Fatal Influence secured the win, while Nikki Bella continued to make her presence felt around Green. Cody Rhodes addressed Randy Orton during the show. He also addressed Orton’s comments about him changing over the years. Rhodes also admitted that Orton might not be the only person who gets hurt. The rivalry between the two former Legacy teammates continues to intensify ahead of their next major confrontation. CM Punk defeated Finn Bálor and Gunther in the final Money in the Bank qualifying match of the night. The three-way battle featured several big moments. Bálor hit Punk with a Coup de Grâce, but Gunther pulled him out of the ring before he could win. Punk recovered and covered Gunther to score the victory.
