New Delhi: With Delhi gearing up for three major festivals — Ramleela, Durga Puja and Chhath Puja — the govt has started preparations for security, traffic, sanitation, medical services and electricity arrangements. Delhi govt will also build temporary immersion ponds for Durga Puja idols.

CM Gupta said the govt would ensure that devotees face no inconvenience. “Arrangements would be completed well in advance to ensure the festivals are held in an atmosphere of convenience, security, cleanliness and harmony,” she said. The govt has constituted three separate special committees on the directions of chief minister Rekha Gupta to review and coordinate preparations for the festivals. Download the TOI App.
The Ramleela committee will be headed by Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, with MLAs Ashok Goel, Anil Kumar Sharma, Shyam Sharma, Sanjay Goel and Sandeep Sehrawat as members. It will facilitate necessary NOCs through the concerned district magistrates under a single-window system and oversee drinking water, ambulances, fire services, mobile toilets, cleanliness, fogging and uninterrupted power supply. The Durga Puja committee, headed by Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra , will include MLA Shikha Roy, MLA Neeraj Basoya and social workers Anjali Bhattacharya, Devdutt Bhardwaj and Arun Mukherjee. Besides civic and security arrangements, the panel will arrange temporary ponds or tanks for idol immersion and ensure removal of material left after immersion. Mishra will also head the Chhath Puja committee, whose members include MLAs Abhay Kumar Verma, Chandan Kumar Chaudhary, Sandeep Sehrawat and Deepak Chaudhary, and social worker Santosh Ojha. The panel will oversee arrangements at the ghats.
