Kalaburagi : A 22-year-old man, who was asleep at home, was allegedly taken away by individuals claiming to be police and brutally murdered, with his hands, legs and head severed, at Gobbur village in Afzalpur taluk of Kalaburagi district.
Around 3am on Sept 21, a man from the same village arrived at the house of Khalimasab Hasaragundagi, 22, and woke up a woman sleeping outside. Claiming to be from the police station and saying they needed to question her son, the man took Khalimasab, who was sleeping inside the house, away with him. When Khalimasab did not return for two or three days, his family made inquiries with neighbours and relatives, but could not obtain any information about his whereabouts. Additional superintendent of police Mahesh Meghannanavar, DSP Thammaraya Patil, CPI Lakhan Masaguppi and PSI Sangeeta Shinde, along with the dog squad and fingerprint experts, visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case in connection with the murder has been registered at Devala Ganagapura police station.
However, on Friday afternoon, locals spotted a body in a field on the outskirts of the village and alerted police.
