Chitradurga : Chitradurga police are investigating the alleged murder of a 24-year-old youth whose body was found Sunday morning near a crusher unit close to Eerajjanahatti Gate in Chitradurga taluk.
Investigators said Rangaswamy had suffered severe head injuries, apparently after being attacked with a stone. Rangaswamy had earlier quarrelled with Janardhan of Chelugudda, near Shivaganga, police said. Police said Janardhan later allegedly told his friend Gurukiran about the incident.
Police suspect the murder was linked to an old feud. In his complaint, Rangaswamy’s father Kariyappa alleged that Janardhan called his son to the Anjaneyaswamy temple at Janukonda and later took him near Eerajjanahatti Gate, where he allegedly murdered him. Acting on information from Gurukiran, police reached the spot and recovered Rangaswamy’s body. Chitradurga Rural police have registered a case against Janardhan and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder. Further details are awaited from police officials.
The victim, Rangaswamy of Shivaganga village in Holalkere taluk, left home Saturday afternoon after telling his family that he was going to Janukonda and would return later. When relatives tried contacting him that night, his mobile phone was switched off. Police later informed the family that Rangaswamy had been found dead in a hilly area near the crusher unit.
