Dr Shruti Hegde at LFW
Hubballi : City-based dermatologist and model Dr Shruti Hegde made her mark at London Fashion Week (LFW) 2026, one of the world’s major international fashion events organised by the British Fashion Council (BFC), held from Sept 17 to 21. Wadhwa, creative director of Extra Ordinnaire, presented her spring/summer demi couture 2027 collection at LFW. “The Sept 2026 edition was held over five days, showcasing Spring/Summer 2027 collections. The official programme included 47 catwalk shows, 23 presentations, 10 digital activations and 53 evening events. The BFC describes LFW as a global platform attracting international buyers from over 60 countries,” she said.
Sharing her experience with TOI, Dr Hegde said LFW brings together established fashion houses, emerging designers, models, buyers, international media, photographers, retailers and other creative professionals. “The collection, titled ‘The Garden of Excess’, designed by Indian designer Garima Wadhwa, drew inspiration from a garden that has grown beyond the ordinary,” she said. Rather than following conventional representations of floral fashion, the collection explored the idea of nature becoming larger, richer and more fantastical than reality,” she said. Speaking about LFW, she said it is held twice a year, in Feb and Sept.
“The collection translated these elements of nature into a dramatic fashion language, using exaggerated forms, sculptural silhouettes and artistic detailing to create a dreamlike interpretation of an overgrown garden.
With an MBBS background and a career in dermatology, she continues to straddle the worlds of medicine and fashion.
Dr Hegde’s participation marked another international modelling assignment for the Karnataka-based model, who has previously represented India at international pageants and worked across fashion, modelling and performing arts.
