Chennai: Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) police searched four premises in Kallakurichi district on Saturday and seized 30 documents, including bank records, as part of their probe into a multi-crore cheating case involving the alleged illegal collection of money from private school managements upon promise of approvals and renewals during the previous DMK govt.
Police said Muthukumar had been operating a firm called Global 360 Degree in T Nagar, Chennai, through which transactions with private school managements were carried out on the promise of obtaining permanent recognition, school upgradation, DTCP approval and other govt clearances. Inquiries revealed that Saravanan helped Muthukumar handle some of these transactions, police said. Police are continuing efforts to trace Muthukumar, who remains absconding. Former school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi was also booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the case.
B T Arasakumar, Suresh and Raja were earlier arrested in the case.
