Chennai: Enraged over his school friend sending obscene messages and videos to his girlfriend, a 20-year-old man, along with another friend, got him drunk and beat him to death near Mangadu on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Yuvanesh, 20, of Raj Nagar in Kozhumanivakkam. Police arrested Vicky of Thoppu Street in Kozhumanivakkam, and his friend Parthiban, 26, of Srinivasa Nagar in Mangadu.
Police said Yuvanesh wanted to befriend a woman from his locality who was in a relationship with Vicky, Yuvanesh’s childhood school friend. After learning about their relationship, Yuvanesh began sending obscene videos and messages to the woman at night, police said. Police said Vicky and Parthiban attacked Yuvanesh with a bottle and a log. Fearing they would be caught, Vicky and Parthiban surrendered at Mangadu police station later that night, police said.
The woman informed Vicky about the harassment. Vicky then decided to confront Yuvanesh and sought Parthiban’s help. They made him drink and confronted him over the messages. He suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. The two tied Yuvanesh’s body to a large stone and dumped it in an abandoned well. When Yuvanesh failed to return home, his relatives began searching for him. Police recovered Yuvanesh’s body from the well and sent to Kilpauk medical college hospital for postmortem. Mangadu police registered a murder case and arrested the duo.
They, however, surrendered to police on Sunday. On Saturday night, the duo invited Yuvanesh for a booze session and took him to a vacant plot in Kozhumanivakkam.
