New Delhi: A fashion design graduate and her Class 12 dropout sister were arrested for allegedly robbing a delivery boy in Rohini , police said. One of them posed as a customer and tried to snatch parcels from his delivery bag, while the other allegedly arrived on a scooty and struck him from behind.
DCP (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal said the incident took place around 7.20pm on Sept 25 near Hanuman mandir in Sector 5. A case under sections 309(6) (voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of BNS was registered at Budh Vihar police station. Police said technical surveillance and human intelligence helped identify the accused as Nancy Singh, 26, and Gracy Singh , 20, both residents of Karol Bagh. Police arrested the sisters within 15 hours of registering the case. Police said Nancy had completed a fashion design course but was unemployed, while Gracy was a Class 12 dropout.

We are looking into whether they may have been involved in similar incidents earlier,” Jaiswal said. Three robbed parcels, along with the mobile phone and scooty allegedly used in the offence, were recovered from their possession, police said. One of the women allegedly approached the delivery boy posing as a customer and attempted to forcibly take parcels from his bag. When he resisted, she allegedly threw chilli powder into his eyes. Meanwhile, the second woman arrived on a scooty and allegedly struck him from behind, causing him to fall and sustain a leg injury. The two then fled with several parcels. “This is so far their first target. Following the incident, a team was formed to investigate the case. During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed their involvement in the case. Further investigation is underway. Download the TOI App.
