KNRUHS cancels 9 MBBS admissions over ST quota eligibility; 37 candidates flagged
In all, 37 candidates have been found ineligible to claim ST reservation benefits for MBBS/BDS admissions in the state.
The decision was taken based on a communication received from the director of tribal welfare, Telangana, who said the candidates were not eligible to claim reservation benefits under the ST category in Telangana as they had migrated from Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad: Admissions of nine MBBS students who had secured seats under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) quota have been cancelled by Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) after the varsity found them ineligible for ST reservation in Telangana . The nine candidates had secured admission in top colleges such as Osmania Medical College, ESIC Medical College, Hyderabad, and Government Medical College, Karimnagar, among others. In one case, however, the candidate was not considered ST as she did not belong to the traditional habitat of the Yenadi ST community, though she had obtained a certificate from Medak district, and failed to prove her native place and community.
