At the event, Singh presented a paper titled “Transnational Feminism and Third World Literatures in the Context of the Cold War,” focusing on how feminism and Third World writing intersect with Cold War politics and gender geopolitics. Singh said feminism should not be viewed only through Western experiences, stressing the need to read Third World literatures in their own historical and cultural settings. The award enabled him to travel to China to attend an international conference marking the 130th anniversary of Sichuan University. He also chaired an academic session and took part in an international panel discussion. He added that literature can strengthen connections between India and China. Download the TOI App.
