Students of Govt High School, Kusugal involved in Rock Paper Scissors AI activity
Hubballi : Artificial intelligence (AI) classes have commenced in govt high schools across the district, with 56 AI guest teachers appointed in selected schools. Most of the teachers hold degrees or diplomas in computer science and will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 20,000. AI has been introduced as a vocational subject under the National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF), according to officials.
Yashoda Angadi, an AI guest teacher at Govt High School, Kusugal, said introductory AI lessons are currently being conducted alongside computer classes. She added that classes are being conducted according to the AI handbook and that students are actively participating and showing keen interest in the subject. A training programme was recently organised for the newly recruited teachers to ensure the effective implementation of AI education. AI guest teachers were selected through interviews conducted by school development and monitoring committees (SDMCs). The education department recently conducted an orientation programme for the newly appointed teachers and instructed them to begin classes as per the prescribed handbook. Textbooks will be distributed shortly. Students are first taught basic computer skills before moving on to AI concepts.
