Belagavi: Hindalco Industries Ltd’s Project Siksha, an education-focused CSR initiative, is benefiting over 6,800 students across 21 govt schools in Belagavi district.
The programme covers 12 Kannada-medium, seven Marathi-medium and two Urdu-medium schools, focusing on improving infrastructure and learning opportunities for children from underserved communities. At Govt Kannada Higher Primary School in Yamanapur, headmaster Basavaraj Irappa Kajagar said the school earlier had just one classroom and classes only up to Class 5. With support from the project, it now has five classrooms and has been upgraded to Class 7. In a release, Hindalco Industries Ltd’s Alumina Business CEO Saurabh Khedekar said Project Siksha was helping create better learning opportunities for more than 6,800 students in Belagavi.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and realise their potential,” he said. Hindalco has also provided an English teacher to address a gap in academic resources. Students are being provided books, school bags and other educational material. Download the TOI App.
