The digital locker facility launched by NWKRTC at Hosur bus stand is operational now
For a medium-sized locker, the fee is Rs 40 for up to six hours and Rs 80 for six to 12 hours. A fee of Rs 120 applies when luggage is stored for 12 to 24 hours. For large and extra-large lockers, the charges for 24 hours are Rs 160 and Rs 220, respectively.
Hubballi : North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has launched a digital luggage locker system at Hosur bus stand after receiving a favourable response to a similar facility introduced on a trial basis at Gokul Road bus stand. Sanjay Vastrad, manager of Durolt Technologies, said the facility was introduced at Hosur bus stand following passenger demand.
Users begin by entering their mobile number at a kiosk and verifying the one-time password received on their phone, according to details shared by the operators. He said it would be extended to more locations in the coming period. Vastrad said the system requires only 40sqft of space for installation, making it suitable for deployment at bus terminals with limited space.
The first-of-its-kind facility in the corporation is being managed by Durolt Technologies. It allows passengers and members of the public to store luggage without staff assistance through a fully automated system that functions like an ATM. The locker area is monitored by CCTV cameras. After verification, they can choose a locker size, medium, large or extra large, select the required duration and pay the prescribed fee through UPI. Lockers can be opened and closed using the OTP, allowing users to access their belongings during the booked period without requiring counter assistance. The corporation and service provider have outlined the fee structure for different time slots. He added that the system is available in Kannada and English and that security has been prioritised through CCTV surveillance. The lockers are convenient for people who cannot carry luggage while visiting markets or attending to other work.
He also indicated that digital luggage lockers are expected to be introduced gradually at all major NWKRTC bus terminals, depending on utilisation and demand observed at Hosur and the earlier trial location at Gokul Road bus stand. Stay updated with the latest Hubballi news. Download the TOI App.
