Delhi Police has submitted a non-cognisable report after a complaint involving PWD minister Parvesh Verma.
It was done under Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) of BNS.
Police also said an FIR under sections related to extortion was registered on the complaint of an assistant engineer of the PWD against unknown person(s). AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, meanwhile, visited the road stretch in Tilak Nagar and demanded that Verma be dismissed and arrested. “The road surface can just be pulled apart by hand. “Action under relevant sections of law has been taken on the complaints of Sahib Singh and the assistant engineer, PWD. Meanwhile, the PWD engineer alleged that he was being extorted in connection with road construction work, following which a case was registered against unknown person(s) at Tilak Nagar police station. A non-cognisable case is one in which police cannot arrest an accused without a warrant. Such offences are generally considered less serious than cognisable offences. Police cannot investigate a non-cognisable offence without an order from a magistrate. Police are also not authorised to register an FIR for such an offence without obtaining the magistrate’s permission.
