Union minister of state for commerce and industry and electronics and IT Jitin Prasada said the state is “standing at a defining moment to realise its long-awaited industrial potential” that is driven by trade and technology.
The minister added that Centre has mooted engagements with 1,600 chambers of commerce across the country to fill the gap between industry and policymakers. Govt will build all necessary infrastructure so that businesses will face no roadblocks in the state,” the minister said.

Addressing the 195th annual general meeting (AGM) of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, the minister assured attendees of Centre’s cooperation in changing policies for industrial growth, which can “bring back the golden era of Bengal”. He also told business owners attending the meet that “everything cannot be incentivised, you also need to stand on your own feet”. As for regulatory reforms, Prasada said Centre is abolishing bureaucratic delays with the help of digital clearances through a single-window system.
He urged them to reap the benefits of double-engine govt in the state. “What we had thought five years ago may be redundant now. Centre, in line with state priorities, is working towards establishing plug-and-play industrial infrastructure in Bengal. He also urged AI adoption in MSMEs for productivity gains.
