Case Keenum waited 1,009 days for another NFL start. After leading the Chicago Bears to a 27-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, he apparently had something else on his mind too: Pro Football Focus. The 38-year-old quarterback completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Keenum also became the second player aged 38 or older to record at least two passing touchdowns and one rushing score in a prime-time game. WBBM Newsradio’s Josh Liss reported that the Bears finished with 375 total yards compared with Philadelphia’s 248. Chicago also held advantages in first downs, 24-14, and time of possession, 36:53 to 23:07. Caleb Williams completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 while adding 65 rushing yards and two scores. PFF gave him a 62.5 grade, which ranked 20th among quarterbacks that week. PFSN’s QB Impact Score gave Williams an 85.5, fourth among quarterbacks.

He completed all 11 of his passes against the Eagles’ blitz for 145 yards and two touchdowns, per various reports. He finished one completion shy of the most passes without an incompletion against the blitz in a game since ESPN began tracking blitzes in 2006. Johnson had not announced whether Keenum would start again when Chicago hosts the New York Jets.
Johnson said Keenum had already shown the coaching staff how prepared he was during the team’s quarterback meeting the previous night. Earlier in September, Aaron Rodgers criticized PFF during an appearance on the “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward” podcast. “PFF is a joke,” Rodgers said. Williams’ hamstring injury is expected to keep him out another three to four weeks, according to WBBM.
The joke came after a performance that gave Keenum plenty of ammunition. Keenum credited Bears head coach Ben Johnson after the win. “He (Johnson) is the best play caller, play designer, game planner I’ve been around. And really it was fun to do it at this stage in my career where I see the game a lot like him. Being able to execute it like he sees it tonight means a lot. “The coaching staff kind of took a back seat. There were no reminders from us, he was just going through the list over every single play that was on the plan. That right there is a good indicator of what it is going to look like on game day and we needed him to play that well. Keenum’s comment did not happen in isolation. “Well, you first have to know some of the ownership of PFF. Second, they have no idea what scheme you’re running, what the responsibilities are, how it all works together. Four-time Pro Bowler Anthony Barr has also questioned whether PFF can fully evaluate assignments without knowing the calls made inside the huddle. Barr’s criticism followed PFF acknowledging its graders do not hear those calls and instead evaluate what players appear to be doing after the snap. His performance could also create a more immediate football question for the Bears.
