Lucknow/Gautam Budh Nagar: Uttar Pradesh Tourism’s pavilion at the UPITS exhibition recorded strong demand for travel planning material, with more than 10,000 printed itineraries and destination guides picked up by visitors and another 500 digital route maps downloaded via QR codes before the show ended on Tuesday, officials said.

Enquiries, officials said, were no longer limited to Ayodhya, Varanasi and Prayagraj, pointing to a broader spread of traveller curiosity across the state’s interior districts. Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the state is working to decentralise tourist movement under chief minister Yogi Adityanath ’s vision. Additional chief secretary (tourism) Amrit Abhijat said teams have been tasked with converting interest into tour operations and hospitality proposals.

The heavy uptake indicated a shift towards experiential travel and interest in routes beyond the state’s established pilgrimage hubs. Visitors sought information on circuits such as the Neeb Karori Baba trail, heritage experiences around Kannauj’s traditional perfume industry, and eco and wildlife destinations in lesser-visited regions. VR Braj Leela, attar distillation and zardozi demos drew crowds.
