Travis Kelce has spent years building a life around football, but one of his biggest purchases in 2026 brings him much closer to his roots. The Kansas City Chiefs star reportedly bought a sprawling lakefront mansion in Bratenahl, Ohio, for more than $5 million in March. The massive residence covers roughly 21,000 square feet, with eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms spread across the property. The estate occupies about 3.5 acres of lakefront land in Bratenahl, a small village known for its grand historic homes. With a reported population of around 1,400, the area offers a much different setting from the busy NFL life Kelce has experienced in Kansas City. A previous owner reportedly lived at Moyenage for more than three decades and preserved much of its historic appeal before selling in 2019. During the NFL season, he has remained closely connected to the Kansas City area and currently owns a roughly 17,000-square-foot home in Leawood, Kansas. It places him back near the community where his story began, only this time inside a home with more than 130 years of history of its own. Known as “Moyenage,” the mansion dates back to 1895 and sits along the southern shore of Lake Erie. The move carries special meaning for Kelce, who grew up in nearby Cleveland Heights and has often spoken fondly about his Ohio childhood. Yet the size and location are only part of what makes the property stand out. Hidden inside the historic home is a colorful chapter dating back to the Prohibition era. There is plenty of outdoor space, too. But the third floor gives the property its most unusual talking point. The space once contained servants’ quarters and a grand ballroom. During Prohibition, when the sale of alcohol was banned across the United States, the ballroom reportedly became a speakeasy. Decorative murals painted on the walls added character to the secret gathering place. That chapter of the mansion may be long over, but the space has continued to evolve. Renovations eventually transformed the third floor into modern entertainment areas, including a game room and home theater.
