Travis Kelce has put close to $2 million behind Operation Breakthrough, the Kansas City center that serves children living in poverty, according to the Chiefs. The team shared the number on January 7, after fans voted him winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Charity Challenge for a record third time. That win sends another $35,000 to a charity of his choice. Kansas City missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade in 2025, so it was a rare bright spot for the franchise. Students aged 14 to 18 pick up skills like graphic design, auto repair and cooking. The foundation raised about $1.5 million and spent roughly $1.1 million over several years. About 41 cents of each dollar went to charitable programs, according to that review.
Kelce has said it felt unsettling to learn the group’s programs stopped at eighth grade. The total mixes his own donations with funds he directed to the group over the years. But the foundation behind much of his giving is also facing questions about its finances. The January win was fan voted, and Kelce became the first player to take the Charity Challenge three times. He called it “one of the coolest places that I’ve ever seen or been a part of. That depends partly on how the foundation handles the scrutiny it now faces. CharityWatch reviewed its tax filings, along with reporting from The Arizona Republic. A big share was booked as management and general costs, including fees paid to A&A Management Group, a firm linked to Kelce’s longtime business managers.
