A 37-year-old man was arrested on charges of murdering his 67-year-old mother after she refused to give him money to buy liquor near Thingal Nagar in Kanyakumari district on Tuesday.
Kanyakumari: A 37-year-old man was arrested on charges of murdering his 67-year-old mother after she refused to give him money to buy liquor near Thingal Nagar in Kanyakumari district on Tuesday. Her husband Sundaradas died about 10 years ago, following which she had been staying with her daughter Jasmine.
Police said Thangaleela’s son Sibi is an alcoholic. In a fit of rage, Sibi pushed his mother onto a cot and killed her by pressing a pillow on her face, police said. Police identified the deceased as Thangaleela, a resident of Kadamalaikundru near Mekkamandapam.
On Tuesday, an argument broke out between a drunk Sibi and his mother after she refused to give money to buy liquor.
Police said Sibi confessed to killing his mother. Family members alerted Eraniel police, who sent the body to a govt hospital for postmortem. Further investigation is on.
He was produced before a court and was remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday.
