Rockstar Games has revealed how far its developers went to research real-life Florida for the upcoming GTA 6. Speaking to Game Informer, Rockstar’s senior vice president of narrative, Rupert Humphries, revealed that the developers visited several locations across Miami and South Florida while researching GTA 6. However, the last game featuring the location was 2006’s GTA: Vice City Stories. With GTA 6 set in the modern day, the studio needed to research how the region has changed over the past two decades. Rockstar’s research is reflected in GTA 6’s fictional state of Leonida, which features six distinct regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Strip clubs have also attracted attention following an unofficial GTA 6 gameplay leak. The game’s released screenshots and trailers have already showcased several locations and activities. However, Rockstar has not officially revealed this gameplay, and it remains unclear whether the studio will showcase these locations before launch.

“We go and try to experience everything… from riding around areas at night with ex-cops, to going to strip clubs and nightclubs, spending time on the beach, in the Everglades, down in the Keys, and beyond,” Humphries explained. The studio sent its team across Miami and South Florida, where they visited strip clubs, explored nightclubs and even rode through dangerous areas at night with former police officers. The leaked footage reportedly showed a strip club and a nudist town, with explicit nudity involving both male and female characters.
