Office bearers of the Kalika temple trust, police and NMC officials for preparatory works for the Navratri festival at the Goddess Kalika temple.
The temple draws lakhs of devotees from across the city and district during Navratri festival, which starts on Oct 11. Officials of Kalika Temple Trust stated that a 24-hour darshan facility will be provided, alongside a separate queue for paid darshan. Additionally, an accident insurance cover of ₹5 crore has been secured for devotees, announced Keshav Anna Patil, president of Temple Trust.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Madhav Reddy warned that due to ongoing construction work at Dwarka, Mumbai Naka remains the only alternative route. Nashik : The city traffic police have held a meeting with the trustees of Kalika Devi Temple Trust. This year, diverting traffic will be a major challenge for the police, as Old Agra Road along which the temple is located in the heart of the city has been partially dug up for Kumbh Mela construction works. He also raised concerns regarding the severely dilapidated stretch between Hotel Sandeep and Chandak Circle near the temple, requesting immediate road repairs and increased police patrolling during early morning hours to ensure the safety of women walking to the shrine. Consequently, closing roads leading toward Mumbai Naka would heavily burden the already congested Indiranagar underpass. The meeting was attended by temple trust office-bearers Subhash Talajia, Prataprao Kothawale, and Santosh Kothawale, as well as police inspectors Ashok Sharmale and Shrinivas Deshmukh, alongside officials from NMC and MSEDCL.
In view of this, a meeting between police and Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials was held on Thursday to discuss traffic management, devotee safety, and related logistics.
