Hyderabad: Aurobindo Pharma Friday said its subsidiary Apitoria Pharma Private Limited has completed the acquisition of US-based contract research and chemistry services company, A1 Biochem Labs LLC, for a cash consideration of $15.25 million (around Rs 147 crore).
Aurobindo said the acquisition gives it access to an existing CRO platform with more than 50 clients and experience in over 800 projects across India and the US. Incorporated in September 2015, it operates from a leased scientific laboratory. Its turnover stood at $6.35 million in 2023, $9.23 million in 2024 and $5.92 million in 2025.

The Hyderabad-based company said the deal complements its API manufacturing operations and supports creation of an integrated CRDMO platform. The transaction was related-party but conducted at arm’s length and needed no govt approvals, it added. A1 Biochem Labs LLC, based in Wilmington, North Carolina, provides custom synthesis and medicinal chemistry services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Download the TOI App.
After the completion of the transaction, Apitoria now holds 80% of A1 Biochem Labs (India) Private Limited, while Dr. Rajendra Gadikota, former promoter of A1 Biochem Group, holds the remaining 20%.
The acquisition follows Aurobindo’s earlier announcement that its wholly owned subsidiary Apitoria Pharma is acquiring the contract research services business of A1 Biochem Group.
