Wedding gunfire video lands bizman, cousin in Arms Act case

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Hyderabad : A social media video showing a businessman firing three rounds into the air during a wedding celebration has landed him and his cousin in legal trouble, with police registering a case under the Arms Act and seizing the weapon used in the incident.

The video, which recently surfaced on Facebook and WhatsApp, showed Amer Bin Sayeed (41), a businessman from Barkas, firing a revolver into the air while standing among a group of men during a family function, according to police.

Police said the firing took place at Valeed’s residence during the wedding celebrations of his brother, Obeid, in Aug last year. No arrests have been made yet,” the inspector said. Police said further investigation will be carried out by Balapur police.

Following the circulation of the footage, Chandrayangutta police traced Amer and visited his residence, where they initially seized an air revolver. “We are transferring the case to Balapur police station for further investigation since the location of the incident falls under their jurisdiction.
