The programme, organised under Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, began on Sept 28. Kanpur: A five-day farmer training programme on crop residue management concluded at Krishi Vigyan Kendra here on Friday.
Participants learnt how crop residue could generate income through conversion into various products and its use in high-quality mushroom cultivation. They were also trained to prepare and use waste decomposer to accelerate residue breakdown in fields and improve soil health through proper residue utilisation.
Farmers received information on agricultural machinery used for managing crop residue, support schemes offered by Uttar Pradesh and Central govts, subsidy rates and procedures for accessing benefits. Experts also explained the harmful effects of burning crop residue on human health, soil quality and the environment, and measures to prevent such damage.
