Former national convener of BSP Akash Anand was removed from the party on Sept 10 by Mayawati. However, in a rethink, Mayawati decided to take Ishan back into the party on Sept 20.
“This time it is about the loss of trust between the two,” said a party insider. Anand Kumar , Mayawati’s brother and Akash’s father, played a mediatory role, according to party sources. In between, his younger brother, Ishan Anand, was elevated to the post of chief central coordinator. Later, even he was removed from the party to stay clear of nepotism . At the same time, she also noted that taking Akash back would be a betrayal of the party. It was after these efforts that Akash posted his apology on X. Many party leaders reposted his apology, showing their support for him, but his brother, Ishan, who dutifully reposted all statements of Mayawati, didn’t.
Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati is yet to respond to the public apology issued by her nephew, Akash Anand, a departure from earlier instances when he was reinstated in the party within hours of expressing regret.
