Nagpur: A 29-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her estranged husband at her marital home in Itwari on Saturday and was rushed to Mayo Hospital with more than 30 injuries.

Around 1.55pm on Saturday, Shruti’s father, Dhruv Upadhyay (63), a resident of Sugat Nagar Chowk, received a call informing him about the assault.

Police said Shruti’s son told him that his father had attacked his mother and that she was bleeding profusely. Police said the assault followed a quarrel allegedly triggered by Ankush’s suspicion of his wife’s fidelity. The accused’s father, Pintu, also spoke to Dhruv and informed him that Ankush had stabbed Shruti. Dhruv rushed to the house with other family members, but police had already shifted Shruti to Mayo Hospital.

The accused, Ankush , has 21 cases registered against him, according to sources. The couple, who married in 2018, have two children, aged seven and five. He allegedly suspected his wife, Shruti Bagdi, of infidelity. A case pertaining to alleged mental and physical harassment is also pending in court. A case of attempt to murder has been registered at Tehsil police station. Shruti was undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital, while police were searching for Ankush.
