City To confronts 36-Hour Water Shutdown On Oct 6-7: The wider industry impact

Nagpur: Water supply to several parts of the city is likely to be affected on Oct 6 and 7 due to scheduled shutdowns at Pench-4 and Pench-1 water treatment plants (WTPs) and the 33kV NMC feeder at Navegaon Khairy for maintenance and repair works.

The longest shutdown will be at Pench-4 WTP, where supply will remain affected for 36 hours, from 10am on Oct 6 to 10pm on Oct 7. NMC-OCW will carry out two interconnection works on 1,400mm x 1,400mm pipelines near Mankapur Nallah for pipeline shifting and replace the inlet flow meter at Omkar Nagar New ESR. Pench-1 WTP will remain shut for 18 hours, from 10am on Oct 6 to 4am on Oct 7. Separately, the 33kV NMC feeder at Navegaon Khairy will remain shut from 10am to 3pm on Oct 6. The shutdown is likely to affect Nara, Nari, Jaripatka, Dhantoli, Laxmi Nagar New, Shri Nagar, Nalanda Nagar, Omkar Nagar, Hudkeshwar, Sakkardara, Bidipeth and Balaji Nagar, besides Hudkeshwar-Narsala rural areas and Godhani Gram Panchayat. The works include repair or replacement of two HT pump non-return valves, installation of a valve on the GH-Medical feeder at Mokshadham Square and replacement of air valves on the GH-Omkar feeder. Areas likely to be affected include GH-Buldi, Wanjari Nagar, Reshimbagh, Hanuman Nagar, Godrej Anandam, Boriyapura, Vahan Thikana, Central Railway, Bezanbagh, Raj Nagar and Sadar. NMC-OCW will replace an underground cable kit, install a top clip and trim tree branches during the shutdown. The affected areas are likely to include Laxmi Nagar Old, Gayatri Nagar, Pratap Nagar, Khamla, Takliseem, Trimurti Nagar, Jaitala, Ram Nagar, Civil Lines, Rifle Line, Futala, Dabha, Seminary Hills, Chinchbhavan, Tekdi Wadi, Buldi Fort, Killa Mahal, Boriyapura, Gittikhadan and Gorewada.
