Ahmedabad: The Shikshan Setu project was launched in Himmatnagar, Sabarkantha, with the aim of improving school education and strengthening community participation. The initiative has been jointly undertaken by the district administration, the district primary education officer’s office and the Dr K R Shroff Foundation.
District collector Lalit Narayan Singh Sandhu said the project would focus on empowering SMCs and developing the 100 best-performing committees as models of effective school management and community ownership. The project aims to empower school management committees (SMCs), provide them with training and increase public participation in the development of schools.
Its key objectives include achieving 100% student attendance, bringing children who have dropped out back into the education system and conducting social audits of schools to assess their infrastructure and facilities. The project will be implemented in Poshina, Khedbrahma, Vijaynagar, Vadali and Himmatnagar.
