Meerut : A 35-year-old woman allegedly clung to the bonnet of her husband’s moving car for nearly a kilometre in Meerut after confronting him over another woman being in the vehicle with him. Local residents later intervened and stopped the vehicle. The husband and the other woman were arrested on Sunday, police said.
Sunita reached Hapur Road after learning that her husband, Mayank Singh (37), a property dealer, was with another woman, according to the complaint. Circle officer Sangram Singh said, “A case has been registered based on Sunita’s complaint under BNS sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 352 (criminal intimidation). Sunita and Mayank married in 2012 and had faced marital disputes in the past.

Police said they were verifying the allegations and investigating the exact sequence of events. The couple has two minor children, police said. She allegedly found the two inside a car near a petrol pump in the Lohianagar police station area. She confronted them and tried to pull the woman out of the vehicle, leading to an argument between the three. Sunita alleged that Mayank then drove away while she was in front of the vehicle, forcing her to cling to its bonnet. She also claimed that Mayank twice tried to ram the car into a divider to dislodge her and assaulted her after the vehicle was stopped. A purported video of the incident that surfaced online shows Sunita holding on to the front of the moving vehicle as it travels dangerously along the road. Her family had earlier lodged a complaint against Mayank, but the two sides later reached a compromise.
