The minister asked NMC to survey all closed civic schools and categorise them according to the repairs and upgrades needed to reopen them. Bhuse said safety, clean premises, functional classrooms and basic facilities must be ensured before they reopen. “Parents will be more inclined to choose municipal schools if they offer a safe, welcoming and quality educational atmosphere,” Bhuse said.
He also asked the civic body to prepare a comprehensive plan to increase student enrolment in municipal schools. Bhuse issued the directions after inspecting Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) schools in Panchavati, Cidco and Jail Road. He reviewed classrooms, buildings, infrastructure and educational facilities. Schools requiring urgent repairs should be taken up on priority. He also stressed that better infrastructure alone would not bring students back to civic schools. He directed officials to prepare a concrete action plan to boost enrolment in existing schools as well. The plan should focus on better educational facilities, improved infrastructure and a student-friendly learning environment. Officials briefed Bhuse about existing facilities and pending works. He asked the civic administration to complete the required improvements within a stipulated timeframe. Mayor Himgauri Aher, deputy mayor Vilas Shinde, corporators Ajay Boraste and Pravin Tidame, and senior NMC officials accompanied Bhuse during the inspections. Download the TOI App.
