BENGALURU: A 22-year-old assistant at a mutton shop was arrested on charges of attempting to murder two police constables after allegedly attacking them while under the influence of alcohol in Doddaballapur late Sunday night.
However, the two allegedly attacked the policemen, injuring them on their face, stomach and other parts of the body, a senior police officer said. The accused, Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Doddaballapur town, was allegedly involved in the attack along with a juvenile associate, who has been sent to a remand home. The incident came to light after members of the public alerted police about two youths allegedly fighting in an inebriated condition in the middle of Hosahalli Main Road. Constables Manikanta and Rayappa Poojari reached the spot and tried to stop the youths. The constables eventually overpowered the youths and detained them.
