Chennai: Discrepancies have been found in the income details declared by TVK candidate

Chennai: Discrepancies have been found in the income details declared by TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel in her affidavit for the April 23 assembly election and the one filed for the Oct 6 bypoll. The affidavits show different income figures for Kumaravel and her spouse for the financial years 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. Kumaravel declared her income for the year 2024-25 as ₹12.57 lakh in the first affidavit, but the one she filed for the bypoll shows the income for the same year as ₹5.87 lakh. For the year 2024-25, Kumaravel showed her husband’s income as ₹30,04,140, while it came down to ₹5,30,950 in the affidavit filed on Sept 16 — ₹24,73,190 less than what she declared six months ago.
